Training 01/15/2007

It was a Dusting Off The Beacon Skills today. Avalanche path this way, go find me Josh says.....Thewhen decide to do a lite hike...Josh, fill in from here.

We hiked across the lake to the base of the mountain and than began our ascend towards the top about half way up the snow was to deep and steep to continue skinning so I packed it up. So Chris and I could continue on the face of the mountain. The snow on the face was a much harder surface than what we were on because of its exposure to the wind, which made it easier to kick in steps. After making it to the top Chris and I ditched our packs and did some site seeing. At this time we also had to shed some layers, with no wind what so ever the temperature rose to about 48 degrees in the sun.

After taking a few pictures and getting something to eat, Chris and I strapped on our boards and started to descend down the mountain. At first the snow was a bit hard but then gradually got softer, which made it more enjoyable. At the bottom Chris and I looked at each other with a smile and agreed to do it again. After snowboarding down the second, we headed back down the trail. With Chris on his snowboard and I on my skins we made it to the car to head home.
